Colorado Rapids v Atlanta United
People are always confused on why I never like leaving the mountains. Yesterday, I leave the beautiful brisk mountain air of 65 degrees. To arrive into Denver, to a welcoming, scorching, 95 degrees. It was arguably the hottest day I’ve ever experienced in Colorado. The fans that were sitting in the west stands, luckily got to sit in shade the entire match. However, the fans in the east stands. No shock at all the stands were practically empty by 35th minute. You had to just feel like food sitting under a heat lamp in that sun.
Yesterdays match was more of the same however for the Colorado Rapids. The Rapids defenders were never given a break for most of the match, a lot to blame on themselves. In the 1st half, they were constantly getting picked off in their defensive or midfield third. This lead to Atlanta, getting very quick counters numbers up. United started off hot and fast! Scoring 3 very quick goals in the first half, two off combining in wide play and one on a quick counter. The second half was a game of keep away. It appeared both teams were content with the results from the first half. Both teams played keep away, and would only go forward when convenient. Atlanta walks out of DSP with a comfortable 3-0 win.
Here are all of the images I was able to capture from the match. Enjoy!
